Radical West Opens New Showroom in Anaheim Hills

Radical West, Inc. is pleased to announce the opening of its NEW Showroom and Office Headquarters in Anaheim Hills, California. The Staff is busily organizing and moving in to their new location, which includes 7300 square feet of Industrial/Office space in “car central” on East La Palma Avenue. The showroom is located directly behind the Land Rover dealership in the Anaheim Hills Office Center.The headquarters includes several offices for staff members, a large showroom (pictured above,) and a service center for repairs and maintenance of Radical West client’s vehicles. The space also includes storage for Radical West clients’ cars, along with several transport trailers for transporting the SR3’s to track events and races throughout the region. A large shipment of parts is currently being air freighted from England, to allow Radical West to stock a significant number of necessary items for their clients racing needs.

Team Radical West Attends Skip Barber 3-Day Racing School

Skip Barber - Justin LajoieOn August 19-21, Radical West Team members John Morris, Justin LaJoie and Ken Melgoza flew up to Laguna Seca Raceway in beautiful Monterey, California. The team attended the prestigious 3-Day Skip Barber Racing School.

Skip Barber - Day TwoThe team mastered the fundamentals of racing in classroom and driving sessions using Skip Barber’s 2.0 liter Formula Dodge racecars.

DAY ONE includes an introduction to the racecars, equipment and a discussion of the track. An intensive series of slalom, braking and downshifting exercises follow with focus on double clutching and heel-and-toe downshifting.

DAY TWO emphasizes track time in a series of lapping sessions at progressively higher speeds. During classroom sessions, Skip Barber Racing Instructors impart their knowledge of racing theory and advanced braking techniques.

Skip Barber - Day ThreeDAY THREE includes classroom instruction and track drills in drafting, passing and racing in the rain. Then, you’ll line up two-by-two and practice double-file race starts and single-file restarts. Extensive lapping sessions follow for the balance of the day.

Graduates of a Skip Barber Three Day Racing School are eligible to participate in Advanced Activities, a requirement to compete in the Skip Barber Race Series. Eligible graduates can also apply for a regional SCCA Competition License. Ken and Justin will be entering into their first SCCA race on September 20 and 21st.

Two SR3’s Air-Freighted from England

Radical Delivery DayThe SR3’s are transported by Radical West crew directly to a track event at Buttonwillow raceway on Saturday, August 9, 2003. 
It’s delivery day at Radical West — an exciting time for new SR3 owners Justin LaJoie and Fabian Okonsky. Pictured here is the British Airways cargo area where the vehicles are being picked up by Radical West crew after being released from Customs. The two SR3’s were air freighted from the factory in Peterborough, England. 

The Radical SR3’s are transported on a huge metal palette, and the cars Radicalscome complete with mineral oil, coolant and even gasoline. Basically, they can be rolled off the pallette and are ready to RACE. After a short break-in period for seating in your brakes and running in the engine, your new Radical can be competition ready. 

After a 3 hour drive from Los Angeles Airport, the Radical West transport team arrives at Buttonwillow Raceway and begins unloading the vehicles. There’s no time to waste as the cars are participating in a track event.

Fabian Okonski with his newly delivered Radical SR3, has just returned from his first run around the Trailer ViewingButtonwillow track. Fabian is an anesthesiologist from Los Gatos, California. Fabian is an excellent driver who has participated in many track events with his Mazda RX-7. 

Justin LaJoie is getting ready to go out on the track. Justin, a partner in Radical West, is eagerly anticipating trying out the power and maneuveribility of the SR3 for the first time at Buttonwillow. After his first run, he wasn’t disappointed.

Radical West Orders New Trailers

Radical West New Trailers 

In order to accommodate the rapid growth of Team Radical West, John Morris announced today the company has ordered two new trailers to transport the vehicles to track events and SCCA races for their growing list of racing enthusiasts. The new trailers, from Progressive Trailers in Phoenix, Arizona, will be capable of transporting 5 additional cars to events throughout the region. 

The trailers ordered through Progressive were: one 18 foot single car trailer, and one 40 foot 4-car trailer. Radical West plans to offer packages to their clients that include the Radical SR3 and trailer. In addition, Radical West is ordering a deluxe race canopy for the 4-car trailer. 

The transport trailers are expected to be ready for delivery in mid-September, 2003.
