Radical West Racing Team Member Ken Grabowski
Featured on Cover of Dental Industry Magazine
One of the members of Team Radical West and current Radical SR3 owner Ken Grabowski made the cover of the Gutta Percha Clarion, the Kalamazoo Valley District Dental Society’s official publication, Summer 2004 edition. Dr. Ken Grabowski, a prominent orthodontist in Kalamazoo, Michigan, has always been interested in cars.  Perhaps he got it from his dad who was a mechanical engineer for The Ford Motor Co.  Wherever it came from Ken has developed his interest into a skill - the skill of auto racing. When asked how he got involved in amateur auto racing, Ken told the magazine that he started off in the Autocross industry with a friend in 1983.  He attributes his success to behind the wheel training, saying, “The place where you put the investment in the ‘nut behind the wheel’ is in various forms of driving schools.   I’ve had the opportunity to attend a number of schools and would highly recommend them to anyone who has an interest in doing this.  Car Club driving schools are also an excellent, inexpensive way to get involved.”

“Go, Speed Racer,Go!”

Ken is confident the skills he learns on the racetrack translate into a much safer driving experience.  He says that many of the avoidance skills are not instinctive.  They must be practiced so many times that they become instinctive in a panic situation.Ken also races Shifter Karts with his “track buddy” son, Brent, who is 17 years old.  He purchased his Radical SR3 in the spring of 2004, and we delivered it to his home in Michigan, where he has a racetrack in his own backyard!  Although he is far away from his colleagues in the Western Region, we are hoping Ken will race with Team Radical West in the upcoming winter months. Ken is married to Kathy McGarry, who is also a dentist.  She graduated from University of Michigan and practiced in the Kalamazoo area for a number of years.  He has two children, a son, Brent, and a 13-year old daughter, Kimberly.  Ken feels his family is the biggest part of his good fortune.Congratulations on making the cover, Ken!

Radical West Exhibits at Concorso Italiano in Monterey

Radical West Racing
and U.S. Racing Club were out in force at the Concorso Italiano  Ferrari Club event in beautiful Monterey, California last month.   Some of our Team Radical West members are also Ferrari owners, and the gathering gave some of the team members an opportunity to see each other during the track-event-deprived summer months.  Radical West Racing had an exhibit booth in the trade show, and so did US Racing Club, each featuring a Radical Extreme Sports Car on the lawn in front of the Country Club.  Thank you Todd Waldman, for lending us your Radical SR3 for this event!
US Racing Club President, Kent Broussard, reports “We had a great response from those interested in attending the Radical Advanced Driving School and from others who are interested in our Arrive-and-Drive Program featuring the Radicals.  In addition, many qualified investors expressed interest in our Private Placement and our future plans at Spring Mountain as well as in southern California.” For additional information about the Radical Advanced Driving School, or to schedule a class, please contact Kent Broussard. To view the schedule of Radical Advanced Driving School classes, please visit the Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch website and click on “Event Calendars.”

Team Radical West Racing Attends Streets of Willow Event

On a hot summer weekend in August, members and friends of Team Radical West Racing drove out to the Streets of Willow for an event sponsored by our friends at the Racer Factory.   Rich Barker, the founder of Racer factory, provides two-day performance driving clinics at most of the major racetracks in California, Nevada and Arizona.  Team members attending the event were Elliott Brainard, John Morris, James Walker, and Rosa & Simon Leung.    Team Radical West Staff members Marc Brewster and Todd Joyce also attended, along with Event Coordinator Laura Kunde.  Friends and family of Radical West were also there to cheer on the team. The event at the Streets of Willow gave brand new Radical Owner James Walker an opportunity to drive his hot new 1400cc SR3 for the first time on the track!  Our “Rad Racer” - Director of Racing Richard Fite - also stopped by on Sunday to provide James with some race support. Kent Broussard, President of US Racing Club, attended the event and drove up to the Streets of Willow in his bright red Lotus Elise! The Streets of Willow is a great short track and a local favorite.   Racer Factory ran the full track for this event  - a 1.8 mile road course - with the bowl.  With its 14 turns and three elevation changes with plenty of run-off space, the Streets of Willow provides a challenging, yet safe, track going experience.

The Radicals usually attract a lot of attention at events, and this one was no exception.   Several test drives were given by the Radical West Staff to interested parties.  Team Radical West enjoys running with the Racer Factory Group, and we would like to thank Rich Barker for organizing another successful event!

Celebrate the GRAND OPENING of Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch

The time has come for celebration, and YOU are invited to the party!  The GRAND OPENING of Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch is scheduled for September 25-26, 2004 in Pahrump Nevada.  US Racing Club is the Official Sponsor of the weekend festivities, and Team Radical West is the co-sponsor of an extravaganza that is being billed as the LARGEST RADICAL EVENT in US History, with 20-25 Radicals expected to be in attendance.

The Grand Opening weekend features two organized track day events with MAXIMUM track time for the drivers.  Plenty of “eye candy” will be in attendance, with exotic sports cars such as Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Lotus expected to be driving on the challenging 2.2 mile Spring Mountain racetrack.  On Saturday night, an “all you can eat” barbeque feast will be held outside under the stars.

Radical West Racing Welcomes New Team Members
Radical West Racing is pleased to announce the addition of our two newest members of the team - James Walker and Don Simons.   James and Don will be participating in track events and races along with the rest of their teammates this season.  We look forward to spending time on the track with our latest Radical owners.   Welcome, James & and Don!
James Walker enjoys sports of all kinds, including running, biking, swimming, water skiing, table tennis and bridge.  Recently retired from a partner role in a mortgage firm, James formed a new company to provide technology insight to the mortgage and automotive enthusiast industry. James enjoys drag racing his 2003 Mustang Cobra and recently helped his 18 year old build a frame-off, tubed 1971 Datsun 510 drive/race car.  His 2004 Porsche Turbo will now become a daily driver with the purchase of his Radical!  Happily married for 22 years, James has 3 boys, Brendan, Adam and Ryan.  He and his wife Terri have actively provided volunteer fund-raising services to the Exceptional Children’s Foundation of Southern California for 25 years.
Don Simons is a man of many talents.  A highly successful businessman, Don is the owner of TelSoft Solutions, a telecommunication billing and call accounting firm.  An aviator (the youngest to receive a single-engine pilot license at age 16 in Michigan,) Don is also a gourmet chef.  Don contributes to his community through donations to organizations such as the Long Beach Grand Prix.  He even had a chance to race in the 2000 stock car race!  Along with his new Radical, Don drives a fire-engine yellow Ferrari 355 GTS, stating “Now that I’ve got all the toys and have professional success, I can finally start to play the game!”  He and his wife Karen enjoy yachting and tennis.
