Welcome to the Inagural Edition of Club Spring Mountain News!
In December Club Spring Mountain held its End-Of-The-Year Member Bash to mark official lap times, share ideas and meet fellow members. The following are the results of our discussions.
Track Time/Event Companies
During our discussions at the Member Bash our members agreed that track time is the most important aspect of country club membership. In this spirit we are committed to offering you, our valued members, the maximum time available for weekend events. Virtually every weekend the track will now be open to Club members.* Under this new format you can utilize the full track 2 weekends per month; the 2.2- mile course one weekend per month and the 1.5-mile course on the 4th weekend. Many of you also believe that until our membership reaches higher levels it is more fun and competitive to run with selected Car Event companies. Club Spring Mountain will work with the event companies to accommodate your needs and allow you exclusive access to the track through the upper paddock. This will allow you not only to have more time on the full track but you will be running with more cars. The Clubhouse and upper paddock would be reserved for members only while the event companies would remain in the lower paddock on the 2.2-mile track. *certain exceptions apply
Kart Track
Our meetings with members revealed a strong desire for a dedicated Kart track at Spring Mountain. In response to your request we have been working on modifying  the 1.5-mile road course to accommodate a world class Kart track. In the very near future we will be offering a 1.2-mile (using the 1.5-mile course reduced to a 1.2-mile) Kart course for members while still running the 2.2-mile track for your cars. Our plan is that one weekend per month the 1.5-mile course will have alternating run groups, allowing both karts and cars on the 1.5-mile track at different times. The 1.5-mile course will have several corners added with additional paving allowing for more corners and slowing the track for Karts. Spring Mountain plans to have a Kart shop with rental Karts in the garage buildings across from the Clubhouse. We’ll also sponsor a large Karting event on a monthly basis, while still keeping the 2.2-mile course running with a Car event. In addition, we will also be evaluating the possibility of lighting the 1.2 mile Kart track for running at night.
Exclusive Member Clubhouse
This is an exciting time for Club Members as Construction on the Clubhouse  is moving along at a record pace. As of today the roof is being installed and drywall should start the week of January 14th. Our builder feels that completion should be by the end of February. Given his track record he might just make it! (Remember the Corvette building only took 75 days.) Some new amenities you may not have heard about include a lap pool for water volleyball and other group sports activities, a half-court and badminton/volleyball court and a work-out area near the Jacuzzi. The main lounge will also include a large conference room with a conference telephone speaker system and Internet access. We’ve also added more space in the back of the Clubhouse for outdoor living. A new wall is being constructed to protect the Clubhouse from intrusions from the track with a planter top. In addition, we are currently reviewing a proposal for a gun range located at the end of the garage buildings.
Our New Country Club Coordinator - Ellen Delmore
 We are pleased to welcome Ellen Delmore to our team as our new Country Club Coordinator. Ellen offers an interesting and extensive background with Country Clubs and Event Coordination. Ellen will be your new official “go-to” person, so please don’t hesitate to contact her directly. Along with administrative duties for the Club, Ellen will also be responsible for working with Event Companies, along with planning Parties and Driving Events exclusively for members of Club Spring Mountain. Ellen will be working most weekends and her primary objective is to ensure your experience at Club Spring Mountain is pleasant and hassle-free. Your needs are our number one priority!
Upcoming Club Member Events
January 19-20, 2007 Member Weekend - Full Track - with Invited Guests
Please join us as we celebrate the new year with invited guests who are auto enthusiasts from the San Diego area. Jolene Shafer will be providing her special gourmet lunch at a cost of $20.00 per person. Please let Ellen know prior to this weekend if you will be participating in the event either day and how many lunches you would like to order.
February 2-3, 2007 Member Weekend - Full Track - Guests from GMG Racing
An exciting event with transponders available for timed lap runs, an ambulance and  corner workers, and a special race group. We have invited guests from GMG Racing to run with us. Lunch for members and guests will be available at $10.00 per person. Please let Ellen know as soon as possible if you are planning to participate either day, along with the number of lunches you are purchasing.
