Members, friends, family and the media gathered at the newly-completed $3 Million resort-style Club Spring Mountain Member Center for a weekend-long celebration May 3-4, 2008! The festivities began with karting events and a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony attended by the members and their guests. On hand for the ceremony was Russ Meads, President of Classic Homes Nevada, the General Contracting firm responsible for the design, construction and interior decor of the luxurious resort-style Clubhouse. Also Ted Torres, Founder and President of the International Hospitality Development Alliance, who unveiled the artist’s renderings of the upcoming Spring Mountain Hotel, expected to be completed in 2009!
After lunch competitors enjoyed a highly spirited Spring Mountain Series Race with a phenomenal 20-Radical grid, on Saturday afternoon. The Radical race was followed by a Sports Car Series Race with trophy presentations and photo opportunities for all the winners. Check out our Race Start Video by member Ken Melgoza.
On Saturday night members and guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers catered by the local casino, the Pahrump Nugget. Music and entertainment were enjoyed courtesy of a Las Vegas DJ. The party crowd danced into the night, and everyone agreed it was an occasion to remember!

Chevrolet News
By Janet Curran
The exciting news for Corvette right now is the ZR1. This amazing Corvette comes with an LS9 supercharged engine that produces 638 horsepower @ 6500 rpm and 604 ft lbs of torque @ 3800 rpm. The ZR1 Roots-type supercharger has a larger displacement, builds power more quickly at lower rpm and sustains it through higher rpm. The ZR1 comes with Brembo ceramic brakes and the HUD (heads up display) will have a boost gauge when in track mode.
“One of the most amazing things about the Corvette ZR1 is the level of refinement that our designers and engineers have attained. Even with all that power, this car has road manners that will allow our customers to enjoy it on the streets as a daily driver, and on the track,” said Chevrolet General Manager Ed Peper.
“Developing the LS9 involved more than simply striving for a great horsepower number. Endurance and reliability testing have shown the engine to be robust and low-maintenance, just like other engines in the small-block family,” said Sam Winegarden, executive director, engine engineering for GM Powertrain. “ That it is distinguished as the most powerful engine ever from General Motors is a source of immense pride among everyone involved with the LS9.”
On April 25, 2008, Chevrolet announced at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY that Spring Mountain Advanced Driving School is one of three schools chosen to provide a High Performance Driving School for buyers of this fabulous new Super Car.
Last month Corvette Quarterly Magazine, Corvette Marketing Manager Gary Claudio, racecar drivers Andy Pilgrim and Oliver Gavin were at Spring Mountain photographing and driving the fabulous, new ZR1 along with Spring Mountain Z06 and Z51 Corvettes.
Below is a list of upcoming Corvette Events for the next few months. Our representatives will be in attendance at each of these events, so come on over and say hello!
Looking forward to seeing you at any of these Corvette events.
