Facility Update - Improvements Galore
Over the summer, development at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch has transformed our facility into a world-class road course, driving school and exclusive motorsports country club for auto aficionados.
Construction is nearly complete on our new Lotus Building. The 8000 square-foot building, located adjacent to the Clubhouse, will be used for storage and maintenance of our fleet of Lotus Elise vehicles driven by  students of the Lotus Performance Driving School. Additional amenities for use by members of Club Spring Mountain include a Racquetball Court and state-of-the-art track Simulators. Also planned for this location are a Dyno Shop and a mechanical shop for Powertec, Engine Builders for our fleet of Radical Extreme Sports Cars imported from England. In October, we are excited to announce that Spring Mountain will offer an Exotic Car dealership on the premises. Switchcars.com , located next to the Lotus building, is a full-service automotive firm, offering buying, selling and consulting services, with its home office in Cleveland, Ohio. A Grand Opening party will be held at the dealership this fall, and we’ll keep in touch with more details in future newsletters. The tunnel under the main entrance is now in use and has improved traffic into the Corvette building paddock area. Measuring 10′ tall, 12′ wide and 80′ long (room enough for a UPS truck!) entrance to the tunnel will be through a gate arm controlled by a person in the NEW permanent guard building and or by way of a key pad which will be located at the entrance. A traffic light system will alert you of outcoming traffic. The completion of this tunnel has revolutionized access to all areas of the track at your convenience.
Great news for track junkies…the curbing throughout  our 3.5-mile road course has been improved tremendously, with consistent, usable and professionally designed curbs. We made the curbs longer and wider than the previous curbing, making them safer to run on and easier on the vehicle. For those who know our track well, we also laid a 13′ width strip of asphalt on the back side of corner 10’s curb - an area where drivers would previously drop wheels occasionally, enhancing the safety of this turn. Drivers take note: the overall curb improvements will allow more track records to be broken as the weather cools!
A permanent guard building has been constructed near the main entrance, as well as a starter/timing building next to the race start area. Soon the skyline will be changed further with a bridge over the starting area for pedestrians - a fantastic vantage point for spectators to watch the race starts at Spring Mountain! Additional garage buildings for members of Club Spring Mountain are also under construction.
Future development includes a Microtel Hotel at the facility, with construction expected to begin toward the end of this year. We’ll keep you posted regarding our transformation through future newsletters and updates.

It has been a busy month for our staff representing Spring Mountain at Corvette Car Shows across the country. From Colorado to California; from Pennsylvania to Detroit, and back to California, we have enjoyed meeting with past students and lots of friends from the track. First, we took our Ron Fellows Edition C6RS to Breckenridge Colorado in support of the Looking Glass  Corvette Association’s 35th annual Vettes on the Rockies. This was a great event with over 500 Corvettes of all years, and all types of modifications. Then we were off with our 2008 Blue Z06 school car to California for the Corvette Super Sports Car show. What a blast. They really know how to put on a great event!
The Corvettes at Carlisle event has to be the biggest Corvette Car Show ever! This was the first year for the 3 reps from SMMR attending Corvettes at Carlisle, who attended, Mike Weeks - VP of Sales, Rick Malone -Director of Corporate Events/Driving Instructor and Anthony D’Avanzo - California Outside Sales Representative. Words cannot describe the feeling that overwhelmed us as we gazed upon the nearly 20,000 Corvettes parked for show, representing all vintages, colors, and modification types, with several vendors (including ourselves) displaying great Corvette accessories and products.
In Detroit we represented Spring Mountain for the Grand Prix at Belle Isle, and Belle Isle ALMS races. We were fortunate to witness first hand the brilliance that is the Corvette Racing Team in their home town. We also took a trip to meet with Pratt & Miller - the engineers and brains behind the racing team and our very own C6RS Corvette.
We look forward to seeing all of our friends and graduates at many of the other upcoming Corvette Shows.

Spring Mountain Chosen by General Motors to offer ZR1 Program
Spring Mountain Advanced Driving School is proud to have been chosen as one of only two authorized training facilities in the country to offer specialized driving programs to new Corvette ZR1 owners. Beginning in October, ZR1 owners will have the opportunity to experience the power and versatility of the ZR1 on the most exciting race track in the country, as we introduce several new ZR1 vehicles to our fleet of high performance General Motors training cars. Each new ZR1 owner will be offered a complimentary two-day training program at Spring Mountain Advanced Driving School.
As expected, the ZR1 is the most powerful and most sought-after Corvette model ever. An all-new LS9 motor produces 638 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 604 pound-feet of torque at 4600 rpm. Delivering 100 horsepower per liter, the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 is mated to a close-ratio six-speed manual gearbox with a new high-capacity clutch designed for the increased power. The twin-disc 260mm design provides plenty of clamping power, while maintaining a relatively easy clutch action.

Radical & Sports Car Club Series Race Aug. 30-31
A bright and sunny Labor Day weekend at Spring Mountain was the setting as Club Spring Mountain members competed for podium positions in our latest Radical and Sports Car Series race on August 30-31, 2008. Club members were among the first to experience the brand new curbing on the 3.5-mile road course, and associates with newly-purchased Radical extreme sports cars broke in their cars during the big race on Saturday and Sunday. The race featured Rookie, SR3 and Invitational classes and the competition was fierce among members. Guests of Club Members enjoyed a birds-eye view of the race from our 23-foot two-level viewing tower in the Club Spring Mountain Member Center. After the race, members and their guests partied in the Clubhouse with a casual afternoon BBQ after the race and cooled down in the pool and spa.

Regular Hours Resume Sept 15
As the weather cools down for the fall season our hours will be changing. Effective September 15, 2008 our Regular Season hours are in effect. The track opens at 7:30 am and closes at 4:00 pm, with lunch from 12 - 1 pm.
