Spring Mountain makes Major Announcements
Greetings!
Change is in the air at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, as new programs, new vehicles and major affiliations are announced to enhance the quality of our world-class motorsports facility and driving school programs. Multi-million-dollar developments have been completed on the road course, country club and skyline, with new buildings constructed for our driving school operations, an underground tunnel, curb improvements, lush new landscaping, an exotic car dealership and more paddock area for class exercises. We are honored to announce our affiliation with Corvette racing legend Ron Fellows to present our NEW Ron Fellows Performance Driving School. NOW OPEN! Exotic Car Dealership at Spring Mountain
The world’s first destination dealership is now open at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch.
Switchcars.com, a full-service automotive firm, has just opened the doors to an ultra-luxe showroom with an unbeatable view of the Spring Mountain racetrack. The Switchcars.com building, near the Club Spring Mountain Member Center, features a race-inspired theme and an impressive array of rare and beautiful exotic cars upon which the auto aficionado can feast their eyes. A Grand Opening celebration is planned for November 15-16 2008 at the dealership.

Chevrolet News & Corvette Happenings
New ZR1’s added to Spring Mountain’s Fleet!
Spring Mountain took delivery of its first ZR1 Corvette for the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School last week. We are proud to have been chosen as one of only two authorized training facilities in the country to offer specialized driving programs to new Corvette ZR1 owners. Each new ZR1 owner receives a FREE 2-day driving school, compliments of Chevrolet. Registration for the ZR1 school has now begun, with classes starting on October 20 and filling fast. Call 800-391-6891, ext 238 and ask for Melinda to register for school today. Book a ZR1 school before December 15 to take advantage of some extra incentives.
With 638 horsepower and 604 ft/Lbs of torque, the highly anticipated ZR1 is the most powerful, and most expensive, Corvette ever made. But because it has a limited production of only 2,000, it is also nearly impossible to purchase. But thanks to Spring Mountain Driving School’s new partnership with Corvette racing legend, Ron Fellows, we have acquired two of these amazing vehicles, and taking them for a spin around the facility’s 3.1 mile track is now a possibility.
 Anthony D’Avanzo and Mitch Burlake (pictured here) from Spring Mountain flew to Detroit Michigan last week to pick up our new, fully-loaded, Jet Stream Blue 2009 ZR1 from Les Stanford Chevrolet. Anthony and Mitch embarked on a cross-country journey with the new ZR1 to deliver the car to Spring Mountain and have chronicled their trip in the forums. Our second ZR1 will be delivered the week of October 13, and we’ll keep you posted in this newsletter with more ZR1 stories.
Our Spring Mountain sales representatives had a busy schedule of Corvette Shows last month. On September 20 we exhibited at the Historic Prescott All-Corvette Car Show, sponsored by the Vette-Sette Corvette Club, in beautiful Prescott Arizona. Then we headed over to Henderson, Nevada for the Super Run Car Show, which was great fun. The weekend of October 11-12 was packed with activity. In Tombstone Arizona, Anthony and Mitch displayed the brand new ZR1 for the Corvettes and Ghostriders Annual Corvette show. In Pomona, we displayed a 2008 Z06 school car at the Pomona Valley Corvette Association’s 6th All American Car & Corvette Show.
Our next Corvette Track Days will be held November  22-23 and is always an eagerly-anticipated weekend. We are planning an extra-special event, and are excited to see our friends and fellow Corvette owners at the all-new Spring Mountain next month.
We look forward to seeing all of our friends and graduates at many of the other upcoming Corvette events across the country.

NEW! Ron Fellows Performance Driving School
Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch is proud to announce our affiliation with Corvette racing legend Ron Fellows to present our new Ron Fellows Performance Driving School, featuring Corvette driving programs, set to debut this month.
In the world of auto racing, Ron Fellows’ name is synonymous with Corvette. He’s been a leading part of Corvette Racing since the program began more than 10 years ago. And over the years he has been the team’s most successful driver - 26 American Le Mans Series wins, three-times ALMS GT1 champion, two-times GT1 winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and overall winner of the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Fellows’ impressive list of awards, combined with his unprecedented four consecutive ALMS most Popular Driver Awards, are all reasons for Spring Mountain to consider this new alliance a “jewel in its crown.”
The goal of this partnership is to provide the most highly-regarded and comprehensive driving school curriculum available in the motorsports world. The new Ron Fellows Performance Driving School will offer a wide range of driving programs guaranteed to provide an adrenaline-packed track experience for our students. October’s Weekend Event Schedule
The month of October is packed with exciting events, with several weekend opportunities to participate in Club or Radical Series races or to run with Event Groups.
 Beginning with the weekend of October 11-12, the Porsche Club of San Diego is running on the full track, and Club Spring Mountain Members are cordially invited to attend and run with the group. The Porsche Club offers three 3 run groups: Fast, Medium and Slow. Race cars, such as Radicals, can ONLY run in the fast group. Sports cars can run in either the medium or fast groups. No Club Spring Mountain member is authorized to run in the slow group. Run sessions are 25 minutes long. The Drivers meeting will be held on Saturday morning, October 11, at 7:45 am and is mandatory for all drivers, including members of the Club!  October 18-19 is a huge weekend at Spring Mountain, with two event companies sharing the track and two great opportunities for you to run with seasoned racers. The Lotus Challenge Series will be running on the full track, with a time trial and challenge race on Sunday, October 19. This is the last event of the year and trophies will be presented to the winners of the series. Club Spring Mountain members who are Lotus owners are invited to participate as long as the proper safety equipment is installed. Radical Ventures also presents the Radical Cup Series at Spring Mountain on October 18-19. Club members are cordially invited to participate in this exciting event! All types of cars are welcome as there will be run groups for Lotus, Radical and Sports Cars. If you would like to run your Radical in the series, please read the information from Radical Ventures, which includes details about rules and costs. If you would like to run your sports car in the series, the food for the weekend will be catered by Jolene Shafer, and will cost $40 per day, including breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks all day. You must RSVP with Ellen in order to participate.
Finally, the weekend of October 25-26 brings us our own Club Race Series Event, featuring Rookie, SR3 and Unlimited classes. Members with Radicals or Sports Cars are invited to participate! We look forward to seeing all of our members and guests at these action-packed October events. Remember to contact Ellen if you would like to participate in any of the events during the month of October. Different rules and guidelines will apply for each of the event companies, so don’t hesitate to call if you need more information or if you have questions.
Members Buy Hot Cars and Win Races
 Alan Cummins and his son Curtis, from Yorba Linda, California, Charter Members of Club Spring Mountain, visited the Club last week to try a few laps around the track and to pick up their hot new yellow and black Lotus 2-Eleven! Pictured here together behind the Clubhouse, Alan and Curtis have purchased two Lotus 2-Elevens and plan to run them at the track for races and events this season. The Lotus 2-Eleven, aimed at the true track day enthusiast, weighs in at just 1,477 lbs with 252 hp on tap at 8,000 rpm courtesy of its supercharged and intercooled 1796 cc engine. The Lotus 2-Eleven boasts a power to weight ratio similar to that of a 1960s Formula One car. Peak torque of 179 pound-feet comes at a similarly high-strung 7,000 rpm. Zero to 60 mph takes just 3.8 seconds, while the sprint to 100 mph is over in 9.1 seconds. Looking forward to seeing Alan and Curtis at the track with their sensational new cars! Congratulations to Bart Carter, Charter Member of Club Spring Mountain, for winning overall at  the 2008 Hankook Ultimate Track Car Challenge at Buttonwillow Raceway. As reported recently in Grassroots Magazine, “Buttonwillow and the rest of the UTCC field were no match for Bart Carter and his Radical SR8.” A flat tire in the first session did a bit of damage to the left-rear portion of Carter’s SR8, but by the time the car was sidelined he had already posted a quick enough lap to keep him on top. Bart uses the Spring Mountain road course to practice his driving for races across the country. Bart is pictured here with a few of his fans from a recent win at NASA at mid-Ohio in September. Looks like Bart is having a great year for racing!
Track Insurance Now Available
 We are pleased to announce that one of our original Charter members, Jim Navarro, has located a source for track insurance with great coverage at a reasonable cost. Many of our members are not aware that one hundred percent of our current automobile policies exclude us from driving our street cars on the track. If you secure a track insurance policy through Jim Navarro, the company will pay damages if you are involved in a collision on the track. Your vehicle must meet the criteria for passenger cars. Radical and other extreme sports car coverage is also available at a different rate. Taking Deposits for the next Garage Building
Demand is high for our garages, and as a result there are no spaces left in our latest building under construction. Deposits are currently being taken for the next garage building. Gun Range Rules in Effect
 Club Spring Mountain is proud to offer a state-of-the-art Firing Range for the enjoyment of our members. For the safety of all members and our guests, please observe the Gun Range Rules and Regulations that will be posted in the Clubhouse and at the Firing Range. Proper safety equipment, including eyewear and ear protection, must be worn at all times. No member or guest under the age of 16 will be authorized to use the gun-range facilities. If you have any questions or need more information about the Gun Range and the associated rules, please do not hesitate to contact us.
