02 wolf raceMore and more Wolf Racing Cars are arriving at the track and they are going fast (no pun intended!) During the first quarter of 2016 we added 16 new Wolf car owners at the track, and the pack is growing with more expected to be joining this season. Ron Eckhardt, Prince Oliver and Nick Kelly in their Wolf GB08SM's led the way with an impressive 10 second lead during the last race weekend. The Spring Mountain Racing team has done an phenomenal job dialing in these new machines and it's only going to get better.

We are within months of recording our final parcel map for the residential development and commercial property which will trigger rapid changes to the skyline at the facility. It's all good news and we're excited to share it with you, our valued members.

Looking forward to seeing you at the track!

Club Race Weekend - April 15-17

Three Days of Racing Contests Begin on Friday

Join us for another exciting Club race weekend on the Mansell "E" 3.2-mile course. Once again 03 miata lineupthis month we are starting our weekend early with a bonus race day on Friday. Bright and early on Friday at 9:00 am, 30-minute run sessions for Light Sports Racer (Wolfs and Radicals) and Sports Car categories will be scheduled throughout the day, with lunch in the Clubhouse at noon. Our Bracket race will be held at 3:15 pm Friday afternoon, open to all types of cars, where anything can and will happen! Bracket Racing gives all members an equal chance of winning, no matter how fast or slow the qualification. The rules are simple: the slowest cars start first, separated by the qualifying difference. A driver disqualifies himself for "sandbagging", so if your race times are more than 1% faster than your qualifying time, you're gone. Just remember, this is gentleman's racing, so no contact please!

04 flagsSaturday begins with a mandatory Drivers Meeting in the Clubhouse at 8:00 am, followed by Miata and Light Sport Racer qualifying sessions. Please note we are scheduling Mandatory Race meetings for drivers only in the Administrative Building (refer to the schedule for exact times.) A Miata and Light Sport Race will be followed by a Podium Presentation for all classes. After lunch we will have more run sessions and the grand finale....an exciting 60-minute Endurance Race.

Sunday morning starts with qualifying sessions for 45 minutes for both the Miata and Light Sport Racer groups. Non racers will have their time on the track at 10:00 am for a 35-minute run session. Once again we will have a Miata and Light Sport race, followed by a podium presen tation for all classes. After lunch our members will enjoy an open track for three hours to bring your memorable weekend to a close.

Rentals of our luxury-style loft condominiums can be arranged through Kelsey Eisenzimer, Members05 ron winner Coordinator. Our condominiums feature all the comforts of a high-end hotel with the perfect trackside location, so invite your guests to stay with us on race weekend and enjoy all the amenities we have to offer.

Race fees are $200.00 per day for members participating in the Light Sport Races, and a $200.000 track support fee per day. Miata race fees are $75.00 per day for members participating in the Miata Races. Please note that in order to ensure we have sufficient race support staff on hand for the weekend, we need your RSVP as soon as possible. Please contact Kelsey with the details of your stay. Kelsey will ensure you have accommodations for yourself and your guests, along with anything else you may require while you are here.

06 james oscarsonFriday Night Dinner with Guest Speaker James Oscarson, Nevada Assemblyman and candidate for re-election to the Nevada Assembly, District 36. James is focused on bringing more economic development to Nye County and the surrounding region. One source of this development is helping Spring Mountain Motor Resort & Country Club in our growth. That is why James has worked with local, state, and federal officials to secure the releasing of more land from the Bureau of Land Management. This land is key to the continued growth of the area. James is proud to work with SEMA and MEMA to make sure our issues have the attention of the legislature. We are fortunate to have such a strong voice fighting for us. Please plan to join us in the Clubhouse for dinner at 5:30 pm and an informal discussion with Assemblyman Oscarson. Whether or not you are in his district, you will be interested in his ideas for improvement in Pahrump and the surrounding areas. James' son, Joel Oscarson, is our own Chief of Security.

07 race lineupClubhouse Party and Saturday Night Banquet! You and your guests are invited to join us for an evening of cocktails, dinner and celebration at the Clubhouse on Saturday night, with a delicious menu by Executive Chef Susan. In Memoriam

Michael William von Quilich 1947 - 2016

11 michael von quilichSadly we must report the passing of one of our long-time Charter Members, Michael Von Quilich. A well-respected member of the Viper Community who lived in Pahrump with his beautiful wife, Virginia, Michael was a generous and spirited part of our Club. Michael's racing career was impressive as he and his MeNo Race team won the SCCA Majors Western Conference Championship in 2013 and the NASA National Championship the same year with races at tracks in Seattle, Portland, California and Utah. The team also set new track records at every event they raced in NASA Super Touring 1 and SCCA Touring 1 classes.

12 michael von quilichMichael and Virginia were always a winning team in racing and in life, traveling the country for Viper events and races. You never saw one without the other at Club Spring Mountain events. A master of the pit stop, Virginia timed all of Michael's laps and did the tire pressures when he stopped for tire checks and their devotion to one another was an inspiration.

There will be a deep void around the Club without Michael von Quilich and our hearts go out to his family in their time of sorrow. Michael, you will be missed by your fellow Club members and friends in the racing community and beyond. Leave a message for the family on Michael's Memorial page.
