Radical Texas Cup and IMSA Mazda Prototype Lites

08 cota boysSix Club Spring Mountain race enthusiasts shipped their vehicles to Texas last weekend the Radical Texas Cup Race at the iconic Circuit of the Americas. COTA is the premier destination for world-class motorsports, set on 1,500 acres of rolling hills just outside downtown Austin. Members ran their Radicals on the 3.41-mile track designed to challenge the world's most exacting competitors.

Last weekend's contest at Circuit of the Americas was for the final Radical Cup Masters event of 2016. Open to all Radical drivers, this event was an opportunity to race against drivers from all over the continent.

09 gerhard radicalGerhard Watzinger completed his race season last weekend at Road Atlanta with a 2nd place in the Masters Class and and impressive overall 2nd place ranking in the Masters Championship in 2016. Gerhard runs in the Mazda Prototype Lites series presented by Cooper Tires. From Naples, Florida, Gerhard completed the race in the No.32 ONE Motorsports entry. It was his seventh podium finish of the season, which helped him earn the second position in final Lites 1 Masters standings.

Congratulations to Gerhard! As he claims, "it's better than a day in the office."

John Morris selected as Grand Marshal

Pahrump Fall Festival 2016 Parade

10 grand marshall johnSpring Mountain's CEO John Morris led the parade at the 2016 Pahrump Fall Festival on September 24 as Grand Marshal. Vernon Van Winkle, owner of Pahrump's KPVM Digital 46 Television station, was in charge of the event which was sponsored by the Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce. The parade covered a distance of two miles and blocked traffic on busy Highway 160 on Saturday morning.

Van Winkle says the decision was obvious for the Grand Marshal selection. "I elected John as Grand Marshal because of all the contributions he's made to the community on a continuous basis and the future plans that he has."

John rode atop a 2016 Z51 Corvette Stingray with upgrades from the Chevrolet Performance line, including the T1 suspension, secondary radiator kit, Z06 aero/ground effects and Z06 Brembo brake package. Add the Michelin Pilot Sport GT Competition slick tires and this car is more than 4 seconds per lap faster than the standard Stingray. The parade car was driven by John's companion and personal assistant, Katy Murphy.

"JJ" Johnson is NASCAR Super Late Models Champion

Spring Mountain Instructor Claims Season Title in Las Vegas

11 lv motorspeedwayWe are proud of our own Justin "JJ" Johnson's big win last Saturday night at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Win No. 6 of the season was good enough to secure a NASCAR Super Late Models season title for JJ, who finished 22 points ahead of six-time track champion Scott Gafforini in the final standings. The season title was JJ's third overall and first since a 2008 USLCI Thunder Cars championship.

"This is very, very special," said JJ, who won a USLCI Bandolero Outlaws title in 2000. "Ten years ago, we lost by one point, so this is good to come back and not only win it, but win by a good margin. This one means a lot."

Congratulations JJ! We look forward to following your exciting racing career. For more information about the race, read the full story.
