Spring Mountain Motor Resort Acquiring 553 Adjacent Acres
On track to be the longest road course in the world

PAHRUMP, Nev. – Spring Mountain Motor Resort and Country Club, located just 45 miles from Las Vegas, announced today its successful bid on 553.27 acres of property immediately adjacent to the facility. The parcel, identified as phase one of a two-part sale, in the acquisition process from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM,) was awarded by modified competitive sealed-bid sale. CEO and co-owner John Morris personally attended the sale, along with General Manager Dave Petrie and General Contractor Russ Meads, located at the field office on Torrey Pines Drive in Las Vegas on Friday, January 18, 2019.   With the addition of the new parcel, the total size of the facility will now contain 866 acres. The final purchase price was not disclosed.

Spring Mountain is planning immediate improvements on the property, beginning with a 3.02-mile track extension. The new track will be paved with a specific emollient mixed with the asphalt to provide an extremely smooth surface with excellent grip for enhanced motorsports operations. With this addition, Spring Mountain can run more simultaneous track configurations and multiple long track variations for country club members, driving school operations, track rentals and corporate events, with the longest configuration estimated to total 9 miles in length. Eventually, phase two of this two-part expansion will include yet another track extension of 7 miles, which will make Spring Mountain home to the longest road course in the world. Until then, phase one expansion will also include new buildings and a paddock area to be used for a myriad of track operations. Also, an interior road located near the West Track will be constructed to connect the existing tracks to the new road course and future road courses. The paving of the adjacent Wheeler Road will be completed to accommodate a future entrance into the facility for spectators and track rentals.

“We’re thrilled to continue this development to further our vision of Spring Mountain as a world-class motorsports facility,” said CEO John Morris. “The acquisition of the latest parcel of land from the BLM will allow us to immediately begin our track expansion for club members, driving school students and guests. Deepest thanks to the staff at the BLM who worked tirelessly on behalf of this acquisition, which is a result of years of planning and the cooperation of multiple governmental entities. The new land and the expansion bring us to grow closer to our goal of becoming the longest race track in the world.”

The BLM was established in 1946, but its roots go back to the years the country began acquiring additional land.  Currently the BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land, the most of any Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is located primarily in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The BLM's multiple-use mission is to sustain the health and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.
