  • I must echo all that has been said about this place. Fantastic program!!
Don’t put money into making more horses in the Z06 until you have learned how to drive properly. My car is still much better than I am, but I’m getting there. Amazing how well all the C5Z, C6 and C6Z06’s hold up under the hard driving Spring Mountain sessions. Hat’s off to all you weekend racers, you have developed a lot of skills that I can’t wait to perfect.

  • Finally made the new car decision, and I´m now a first time vette owner (2007 C6, manual, Z51, 3LT, NAV, silver with 2-tone Titanium gray interior). Through this forum I was able to get a lot of good input, discover the Corvette school at Spring Mountain (which is the ultimate way to test drive a Corvette), and when I made my decision got a GMID (thanks Richard Ott) and bought from a local dealer who honored the GMID (thanks Boardwalk Chevrolet in Redwood City).I´d like to thank the forum members who take the time to provide a lot of info on this web site for newbies like myself. From my last car (Miata), I found out how valuable a car forum can be. The Miata forum also provided a lot of good info, and it´s where I found out about track clubs, which has led to a few years of SCCA racing so far. So when I started looking for a new car, I also started checking out other car forums, which is how I found this forum.During my car shopping I narrowed it down to the C6 & Cayman S. The price difference was the main reason I went with the C6. I´ve never been that interested in getting a vette before, but the C6 looks and reviews made me start looking at the C6. As I mentioned earlier, the Spring Mountain Corvette school was the ultimate test drive. The torque on the C6 Z06 in 2nd gear is truly amazing. While driving on the track I was able to get more comfortable with the C6, as well as help me decide to get the 3LT package, which includes the telescopic steering wheel.

  • New Z06-Learn to drive it at Spring Mtn.
Recently I traded my 67 400hp StingRay for a new 06 Z06(yes, straight across trade) . I have been a car guy for over 40 years, but knew the first time out this car was capable of a lot more than I was. Thats when I signed up for Spring Mountain HPDE. I asked my son(24 y.o.), who is not as passionate about cars as I am if he wanted to go and he said yes. The night before we went he informed me not to be disappointed if he wasn’t smiling or enthusiastic about this school . After the first day he was in love with this driving course and the experience. He was pretty sure it was the best thing he had ever done with his free time. The skills taught are useful on the street as well as the race track. Everybody practicing their heel toe???This is a testament to the experience and confidence that Dave (Go Huskers), Victor, Jordan and Ken gave us behind the wheel of a Corvette.By my judgement , even if you have gone to other schools, these professionals can help you learn more.Hi to C.V., Robert, Phil, and Mark who were our classmates, and yes we are going back to do level 2 sometime in the future

  • Took possession of my Z06 at the Museum in November. One learns quickly that it is a lot of car especially for me who has not been a car guy except for the fact that I have been driving them for 30 years. They told me at the Museum that they recommend a driving course. I had already signed up for the 3 day beginners course at Spring Mountain. While there I met the guys mentioned above…. who all had a varied experience. The first day was learning the basics of controlling the car… braking and skidding… and what turned out to be the daily workout with heel toe down shifting. Later in the day we started talking about ‘the line’ and ‘apexes’ and the other basics of finding ones way through a turn in the most efficient manner. Each successive day built on these basic fundamentals with the instructors critically involved. The third day was spent on the track (with helmuts) and without speed limits…. I learned more about driving in those three days that I think I have learned in 25 years. Now I have a lot of practicing to do and concentrating on keeping my eyes up…
