Track Expansion and Improvements in 2012
As part of our commitment to excellence, Spring Mountain Motor Resort and Country Club is starting the New Year with a major expansion of our Administration Building, adjacent to the Clubhouse. 
The Administration Building, which houses our Management staff, inside sales personnel and Radical operations was the first permanent structure built at the facility in February of 2006. The addition of 1550 square feet of office space will allow more room for the Radical Racing School classroom, more administrative offices, additional mechanical lifts, and a 3,000 square foot shade cover for Radical operations. In addition, the Winners’ Podium will be given a complete facelift with exciting new graphics for better photos for the race champions.
1.3 mile track extension on the horizon……Spring Mountain Motor Resort is currently in negotiations for the acquisition of a 120-acre parcel adjacent to the property. We expect the new property to be transferred in mid-2012 and are planning to immediately begin grading for a 1.3-mile track extension. The new track extension is expected to be 50 feet wide and extremely smooth, due to a special emollient mixed with the asphalt to provide an excellent grip and smooth surface, with excellent banking, including 102 feet of elevation change. With this addition, we will be able to run multiple long track variations, with the longest configuration being nearly 5 miles in length. Plans are also being finalized for the addition of paving in specific areas on the existing track, adding new corners, and additional paving to widen the track in specific areas for passing, including wide, beautiful curbing. You should be seeing these changes later this year, along with new configurations for running certain portions of the track both clockwise and counter-clockwise!
Finally, we are preparing a tentative subdivision map for the commercial property in front of the facility to include a Gas Station, various restaurants, a 55-room hotel and more.

Miata Series for 2012 begins in March
The Club Spring Mountain Miata Race Series (CSMMRS) prepares to launch into its second year of racing on the weekend of March 3-4 2012. 
The series is intended to provide Club Spring Mountain members an inexpensive race series whose sole focus is safe competitive wheel to wheel racing, driver development, and good sportsmanship.
Highlights of the Series
* A 9 weekend (18 race) schedule that includes; Sprints, Enduro, and Night racing.
* A Series Championship based on the best 14 of 18 finishes, giving drivers flexibility with their schedules.
* Open to CSM Members only. Know who you are racing with.
* Low Cost. The series is only $325.00 to join and a $100.00 per event (that’s both Saturday and Sunday) registration.
* Competitive inexpensive vehicles, all Miatas must meet specific rules to ensure close competitive racing.
* Self-governing, participants will provide series oversight. Simple 13/13 rules apply.
* No Experience? Not a problem. Spring Mountain can offer a SCCA certified race clinic.

Club Race Weekend – February 18-19, 2012
Keep up the Momentum and Join us for February’s Races!
Join us this month to watch and/or participate in first two big race events of the year….the Radical Series and the Bracket Races to be held on February 18-19, 2012. 
There’s something for everyone – Radical or Sports Car fans, so be sure to come enjoy your fellow members and participate in all the excitement! Come early to practice for the race as once again in February our valued members will enjoy exclusive use of the full track on both Thursday and Friday to perfect your skills and shave a few more seconds off your fastest lap time.
We are expecting a large field of Radicals and Sports Cars at the race, with drivers competing for points and trophies at the end of the year. Now is your chance to keep up the momentum! The Bracket-style race for sports cars will be held both Saturday and Sunday, which includes ALL makes of Sports Cars. Please note The Bracket Race will now include Sports Cars ONLY. Slower cars and drivers will start the race with a time advantage over faster and more experienced drivers, so everyone has an equal chance to win the contest.
Please mark your calendars to attend this big event, which will include a mandatory driver’s meeting at 8:00 am on Saturday and 8:30 am on Sunday, back-to-back run sessions all day, a Radical and Bracket-style race on both Saturday and Sunday, and a special Clubhouse dinner on Saturday night, February 18, 2012. Our friends from Chicago Joes restaurant, Joe Collura and Marlene Livings, will be catering both 
Saturday’s lunch and dinner, so we will be eating like kings! Check out the lunch and dinner menu for Saturday, February 18. You will be serenaded by your fellow members and staff at the Saturday night banquet as we plan to host a Karaoke Night at the Clubhouse. Don’t be shy….show your fellow members how talented (or daring) you are!
On Saturday we will be running the 2.3-mile track, and on Sunday the 3.1-mile course will be in use. A complimentary continental breakfast will be served in the Clubhouse each day, and the price for lunches is $15.00 per person with pre-registration or $20.00 at the event, and dinner is $35.00 per person with pre-registration or $40.00 at the event, not including alcoholic beverages at the bar.

Karting on Saturday, February 18! Join us for a fun and competitive karting session on the 1.5-mile track on Saturday, February 18 from 4:30-5:30 pm. Bring your own kart and please note that there is no karting on the paddock. It is essential that you transport your kart to the karting warm-up area.
Sunday Tire Raffle! Win a set of Dunlop Tires in a special raffle after the Sunday race. Members who have participated in both days’ events are eligible for this special raffle.
Raffle for the Wives. On Sunday of the Club Race weekend, we will be raffling off a massage with Tina Edgerton, our Club Masseuse extraordinaire. 15-Year-Old Racer Parker Nicklin Proves His Skill
Steve Nicklin has been a Club Spring Mountain Charter member since the inception of the Club, and an experienced racer for many years. Steve’s son, 
Parker, age 15, recently attended the Skip Barber Formula Racing Schools and the Karting Shoot-out at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey California. At the shoot-out, 30 of the best minor Kart Drivers in the country competed for the chance for a scholarship in the 2012 Skip Barber Formula Racing series. Up against the best prepared and highly funded kids in the karting world, Parker proved his race skills and stamina as he walked away with the checkered flag in his race. Although Parker did not win the top prize, he did receive about $7,000 in prize money and race credits. Parker is set to compete in the Skip Barber Formula Racing Series which begins in April at Virginia International Raceway.
As proud father Steve states, “His driving shows natural talent, but I am most proud of his willingness to take-on the bigger steps towards racing. These abilities will help him no matter where he goes in life.” Parker is currently working with a Sponsor Coach to become skilled in self-promotion and to seek sponsorship opportunities to earn the privilege of becoming a professional race car driver.
We will be following Parker’s budding career in racing with great interest, and wish him the best of success this year. Check out this in-car video of Parker at California Speedway, in his second SCCA regional race here.

There are 3 designs available; Miata Series, Radical Series, and Club Spring Mountain Series. Each design has the option for you to add your own personal touch, whether it’s your name, nickname, car number or slogan, you can choose! Pictured at right are the standard layout.
