Celebrate our 10th Anniversary: 2004 – 2014

Reflections on ten memorable years

Ten years have flown by since 01-AerialViewSMJune2014 Spring Mountain partners purchased 193-acres of desert land with a 2.2-mile road course, a driving school with a fleet of 8 Corvettes, two tent structures and portable restrooms. In the early days a Mobile office building was utilized for classroom operations (with flushable toilets) while the first building was constructed and the track gradually expanded. The rest is history. A visionary’s dreams led us to the destination we now call Spring Mountain Motor Resort & Country Club. Reality has far surpassed the partners’ expectations, and we are still striving to create a motorsports experience second-to-none in the world.

During this journey we have been thankful to work with the most incredible staff, many of whom have been with us since the beginning, and all who share our passion for providing exceptional products and services to our valued Club members, their families and friends. Russ Meads, our General Contractor, built the entire facility and paved the way through countless miles of local, state and federal red tape to make it happen. Russ, along with the phenomenal members of our staff, are the primary reason for our success.

Please join us in celebrating a remarkable ten years of growth, innovation and achievements at Club Spring Mountain! During the next few months the 10th Anniversary festivities will be announced and we look forward to seeing all of our Club members in attendance.

We are grateful for your support and encouragement, and thank you sincerely for believing in the dream. It’s been an eventful ride and the best is yet to come as we make plans for the next ten years.

Development Update

Summer Watersports fun; Model Homes, and 24/7 Security

Get ready for water sports at Spring Mountain 03-JohnResidenceJune2014 this summer! Our 8-acre, 10-foot deep sparkling lake, complete with white sand and cabanas, is now officially under construction. When this project is complete during the beginning of August we will offer paddle-boarding and a water-propelled Jetpack flight center. The Aquatic Center will be developed simultaneously. Our new security entrance ensures that members will have security guards manning the entrance and patrolling the facility 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. A high-resolution 5 x 15 Jumbo tron screen with graphics and video will soon display events for drivers on Highway 160.

Model homes for Spring Mountain Estates begin in June and CEO John Morris’ residence will be completed and ready for move-in mid-August. Development on the commercial property will begin with the Welcome Center and will be closely followed by the hotel and gas station. During the summer months we will keep you posted of our progress via newsletter. Thank you for your continued interest in our ever-evolving facility.

Club Race Weekend – June 21-22

Don’t miss the Summer Solstice weekend race festivities

Join us for the last Club race weekend 04-RookiePodiumMay2014Girls2of the season, with the weather forecasting sunny skies and temperatures in the high 90’s on the longest day of the year. Bring your family and friends to the track for a fun and festive kickoff to the summer season! The excitement begins on Saturday with an EARLY Drivers Meeting to beat the summer heat at 7:00 am, followed by 25 minutes of Orientation laps at 50 mph speeds (flashers required.) 25-minute sessions (Radicals, Sports Cars and non-racers) for practice, fun and qualifying will run throughout the day. This weekend we will feature TWO separate Radical races…a rookie race and an SR3/Unlimited Contest. A combined Miata/Lotus Race will also be held on Saturday and Sunday.

This month we will run the Andretti 4.0-mile course on both Saturday and Sunday. Your Thursday and Friday practice sessions will also be held on the Andretti circuit so you can get ready for the big race.

05-beachballPool Party and Saturday night Banquet! Cool off with your fellow members and guests with a fun-in-the-sun pool party at the Clubhouse after the races on Saturday afternoon, followed by an evening of cocktails, dinner and celebration at the Clubhouse on Saturday night, with a delicious menu by Executive Chef Susan. Throughout the race weekend buffet breakfasts are included in your race fees.

Lunches are 15.00 with pre-registration or 06-UnlimitedPodiumMay2014$20.00 at the event, and Dinner is $35.00 with pre-registration or $40.00 at the event.

Welcome Joel Oscarson

New Chief of Security Hired for 24/7 Coverage

We are happy to announce the appointment of 07-ScottOscarson our new Chief of Security, Joel Oscarson. Joel is a National Guard veteran with a wealth of experience in security and safety in the detention-center and private recreation facility environments. Most recently Joel worked as Assistant Commander of the Special Operation Response Team at the Nevada Southern Detention Center. In this position Joel was responsible for physical security functions including fence checks and vehicle searches, controlling disruptive behavior and management of staff members under his guidance.

Joel is extremely well traveled, having worked in Special Forces for the U.S. Army to assist the United Nations in training friendly powers, including the Tongan Army, Army of the Philippines, Army of Bangladesh, Thai Army and Cambodian Army.

Joel also held the position of Assistant Facilities Manager for Mountain Falls Golf Club in Las Vegas where he managed maintenance and security, and implemented several key access and customer service programs.

As Spring Mountain has grown and evolved, so have our needs for safety and security at the facility. With all of his impressive credentials and experience, Joel Oscarson is the perfect man for the job. Please join us in welcoming Joel to the Spring Mountain security team.

New Member Calendar Feature

“At-a-glance” track configuration view

We are happy to announce that a new feature is now 08-MemberCalendarScreenShot available on the Member Calendar to quickly and easily view the track configuration, outlined in red, utilized on each specific member day.

Click on a Member Event and an image will pop-up with the proposed track configuration for the day. This feature will not operate on the iPad or iPhone devices; however, it will function on desktop and laptop computers. If the configuration utilized is still to be determined, an image will pop-up with the entire track for your review.

Special thanks to Ken Melgoza for developing this new feature for the convenience of our valued members.

Summer Hours in Effect This Month

To take advantage of the additional hours of daylight and “beat the heat”, Summer Hours will be observed effective June 30, 2014. The track will open at 7:00 am and close at 2:00 pm with lunch at 12:00 pm. If you have any questions about summer hours, please contact your personal Country Club Representative, Erik Odegard.
