Spring Mountain’s road course is faster and more exciting than ever, with a major track expansion completed this summer (see details below) including a ¾-mile road course addition, a 30,000 square foot shade cover on the upper paddock and a full commercial kitchen where we will be creating our own menus.

Major Improvements at the Facility

The summer of 2012 was packed with excitement with huge developments completed just in time for the Fall season. In August we added 127,000 square feet and 2040 tons of asphalt, resulting in a 3/4 mile track extension! Not only did we add new track, we also made changes to certain sections to improve safety for our drivers. At Ego Check we added over 400 feet of 12′ wide paving, created more width to the long straight behind the Clubhouse, and Kenny’s Corner was revamped with more paving and new curbing. In these areas, 12 additional feet of paving created a nearly 50′ wide road course which means safer and faster racing. Many of the existing curbs were improved and we added new curbs for running the course in a counter-clockwise rotation. Also, we added a 4/10-mile extension off turn 4 with a series of fast, challenging turns, including an 8 degree banked turn with a roller-coaster feel.

EIGHT new variations to Spring Mountain’s lineup of configurations were created with this track addition, including 4.1, 3.9, 3.6, 2.7, 2.2, 2.3, 2.0 and 1.8-mile options, two of which are reverse course configurations. The aerial photo gives you an idea of the changes, but you’ve got to drive it to truly experience the excitement! The new track is composed of state-of-the-art asphalt material for better vehicle performance and handling.

In addition to the new track extension, we are now offering gourmet meals prepared in our own Clubhouse kitchen. Construction is complete on a full commercial kitchen in the Club Spring Mountain Member Center, adjacent to the bar, and we will offer meal service for breakfast, lunch and dinner on select weekends with a gourmet menu changing per season developed by our new Executive Chef, Susan DeLisle. In addition to full-service dining for our Club Spring Mountain members, the food and beverage staff will be providing healthy and delicious lunches for the Ron Fellows Performance Driving Schools and offering select cuisine for Corporate and Track events held at the facility. Plans also include adding more seating inside the Clubhouse dining room to accommodate the new meal service.

Susan DeLisle – Director of Food & Beverage

We are pleased to welcome Susan DeLisle as the new Director of Food & Beverage at Club Spring Mountain. Susan comes to us with excellent credentials, most recently as Executive Chef at Mountain Falls Grill Room, where she created the menus and was in charge of restaurant and catering operations. Susan received a degree in Culinary Arts at the Culinary Institute of America in New York and has valuable experience in all facets of the restaurant industry at high-end eateries in New York City. Susan will be responsible for creating the menus for our Ron Fellows Performance Driving School students, and her menus include favorites such as gourmet specialty salads, sandwich options (including a ‘make your own sandwich’ ), grilled burgers, hot dogs or sausages, pasta, chicken, fish and more.

NEW Cadillac V-Series Academy

Driving Programs begin this month

We are thrilled to present the ALL NEW Cadillac V-Series Academy beginning this month at Spring Mountain Motor Resort & Country Club. The Cadillac V-Series Academy will put the race-inspired Cadillac CTS-V through its paces on Spring Mountain’s challenging road course. The academy, designed by legendary race car driver Ron Fellows, will teach you the skills needed to make the most of the handling and performance of these phenomenal vehicles. Visual scanning, threshold braking, corner preparation and car control are just some of the skills you will learn in class. And with extensive track time, you will have plenty of opportunities to practice and perfect these new skills.

The Cadillac V-Series Academy features a phenomenal line-up of Cadillac vehicles, including the CTS-V Coupe, the performance DNA of the race-winning CTS-V World Challenge race car in a street-legal package. With a 556-HP supercharged V8, Nürburgring-tuned suspension, Brembo® braking system and specially developed Michelin Pilot Sport PS2TM tires, you’ll be absolutely amazed by the performance of this dominating sport coupe. We will show you how to take it to the limit on the track.

The Cadillac V-Series Academy features 1- and 2-day programs to fit every driver’s schedule, beginning at $1,595.

Chevrolet News

GM Dignitaries Visit

It was a rare honor to have Mark Reuss, President of General Motors in North America, along with Ron Fellows, Corvette Racing legend and Hall of Famer, visit us at Spring Mountain last month. It was Reuss’ first visit to the facility and we were thrilled to roll out the red carpet for the GM dignitaries.

Ron Fellows, General Manager Dave Petrie, VP of Sales Mike Weeks and CEO John Morris gave Mark a tour of the facility and after a few run sessions Fellows congratulated him on his impressive driving on the track. We hope to have Reuss make a return visit very soon.

Hot Laps and Donations at Barrett-Jackson

Ron Fellows attended the Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas show last weekend and was part of the celebration representing Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and the sale of this special car. It is the first of only four 2012 Camaro ZL1 models produced in Imperial Blue Metallic. A custom graphics package featuring unique “Maple Leaf” striping, event and circuit logos, including the Ron Fellows brand complete the livery, designed by Ivan Novotny Design Inc. The proceeds of $100,000 were donated to the YMCA of Southern Nevada.

Driving Instructors from the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School also gave thrill rides in the form of “hot laps” at the event. Check out the video of Justin (JJ) Johnson, giving a Hot Lap to an excited passenger at Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas.
