INNOVATIVE TRACK LIGHTING SYSTEM ELIMINATES FLAGS

Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch is proud to be the first race track in the United States to implement a revolutionary new Track Warning Light Module System, known as the Track Marshall.  The state-of-the-art system, designed and implemented by Gary Hardesty, Charter Member of Club Spring Mountain, was designed to warn the driver of hazards on track, far faster than the original flag method.  The systems are completely wireless and are powered by battery backed solar or generator systems.  The benefits are numerous….the high powered lights are much easier to see than the traditional flags, and the system can instantaneously warn the entire track of potentially dangerous situations. 

The systems receive commands via a long-range wireless network that is highly encrypted and secure.  At the master control, operated in our new sky-high timing tower, a software program controls the system.  Each Light Module location can be controlled independently, or in sync with the others.  For example, we can allow a yellow flag condition at a specific area of the track, while the remainder of the track remains in a green condition.

The Light Module can produce a wide variety of warning colors, including the standard colors commonly used in racing.  We use extremely bright proprietary LED’s in our systems (not traffic lights as other systems use) allowing for viewing at greater distances and a wider range of color output.  The units are housed in a fire- and weather-proof enclosure and have been tested in very high temperature operation last summer, as well as high wind and rain conditions.

The March 2011 issue of Corvette Magazine features an article about our own Ron Fellows, tracking his legendary career which began in Windsor, Canada driving karts, to his win in the GTS class at the historic 24-hour LeMans  circuit race, to becoming the name and the curriculum behind Spring Mountain’s Advanced Driving School programs today.  The Ron Fellows Performance Driving School is the Official High Performance Driving School of Chevrolet.  We are proud to be affiliated with Ron Fellows, and invite you to read the Corvette Magazine article here.

Corvette Track Days – June 4-5, 2011

Save the date for the much-anticipated Spring Corvette Track Days event on June 4-5, 2011!  A Corvette Track Day weekend gives anyone from a novice driver to an experienced road racer a chance to try out their own Vette’s power and handling in an unrestricted manner on one of the top driving school tracks in the Southwestern United States. Come join Corvette enthusiasts in this year’s Corvette’s Only Corvette Track Days! Participants all over the U.S. converge on the FULL track, including the latest, screaming fast track extension – 3.5-miles of blind entries and lightning fast straight-aways for a one-of-a-kind experience that celebrates America’s quintessential sports car.

Corvette Track Days is a great value! Your $400 weekend includes 2 full days of driving, a Gourmet dinner party on Saturday night, and a Commemorative shirt.  Also included in the price will be a Continental Breakfast.  Lunch is available for purchase and will be catered by the Pahrump Nugget.  Timing, Helmet Rental and Dyno-testing is available upon request, and the latest styles of Corvette and Spring Mountain logo apparel will be displayed on site.

ZR1 Program Notes – MORE Corvettes Now Eligible for FREE Driving School!

The Ron Fellows Performance Driving School, the Official High Performance Driving School of Chevrolet, is the Number 1 Corvette ZR1 Program Training Facility in the country, having trained more ZR1 owners than any other authorized training center.  Great News!  Chevrolet has just announced a new Driving School promotion for a limited time only. All new and unused 2010 and 2011 Corvette Coupes, Convertibles, Grand Sport Coupes and Convertibles, Z06 and ZR1 Models are now eligible for a FREE Driving School if customers take retail delivery of their new Corvette between January 4 – February 28, 2011.
