Next on the agenda is a Sports Car Invitational to be hosted here on a date in the very near future!

Spring Mountain Expansion

BLM Land Acquisition News

04 BLM propertyJoel Oscarson, Director of Strategic Development, reports we are steadily moving forward with the purchase of the land adjacent to the track from the Bureau of Land Management. Joel notes, "The land is nearly 630 acres and located directly to the north and east of the facility. The small section of land connecting the northern and eastern parcels is of great strategic value due to the connectivity of the two vital areas of the property. That section must be configured to mitigate an issue with the West Wide Energy Corridor (WWEC); therefore the parcel was designed to support the land release to submit to the BLM. The process of purchasing the land has begun and we have been given approximately 9 -12 months to close on the property. Delegates from both sides of party lines are involved with us to acquire the property to continue growth here at Spring Mountain."

Passings, Weddings and Italian Car Testing

Sad news this month about the loss of two special friends of the Club...Carol Carlson and Gary Goulet. They will be missed by members and staff at Club Spring Mountain.

08 carlson familyCarol Carlson, mother of Platinum Member Terry Carlson, passed away peacefully on September 11 in Pahrump, Nevada. Born in 1932, Carol was a huge supporter of her son Terry, his beautiful wife Monica, and the Club Spring Mountain experience in general. She loved being at the track and attended nearly every race, spending time with members and staff dispensing her sassy sense of humor. Nearly everyone had a funny story about Carol, and she was known for "eating her weight in cookies" when she visited the clubhouse.

You are invited to join Terry and Monica in the Radical Showroom Friday night, October 13 at 5:30 pm for a champagne toast to honor Carol's memory.

09 gary goulet fred chinClub Member Garrett W. Goulet passed at home July 30 from Cancer. Gary was born in Salem, Oregon in 1941, and grew up on a hop farm. He earned a BS in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University. While in Seattle, he met and married Dee Ann Day, his wife of forty-eight years. Gary and Dee Ann lived in Boise for over 40 years. Gary loved Porsches and bought his first one at age forty.

Member Fred Chin has known Gary for 10 years and loved his heart of gold and passion for Porsches. Fred shares his memories of Gary. "I remember chasing him around the course in his then black 997 GT3, my skills insufficient to negotiate a clean pass around him. Also I remember our discussions in the paddock where he relished how much he enjoyed driving. It was at that time I knew Gary was truly one of a kind."

"His enjoyment of driving and the ability to share those moments over cocktails will be my eternal memory of him and his love of Porsche. Gary, you will be in my fondest memories whenever I step into my Porsche. I hope to be driving with as much enjoyment, zest and enthusiasm as you showed me and as I complete each lap of life."

Facility Development Update

Construction Begins on our Residential Development, and more!

04 constructionThe Spring Mountain development team headed by Russ Meads of Double M Construction has embarked on a vigorous schedule of compacting, rough grading and fine-grading 80 home sites at the facility. After 3 ½ years of planning, last month County commissioners approved the final subdivision map for Spring Mountain Estates, our residential development with 80 home and mixed-use parcels. The final map recorded on March 6, clearing the way for construction to begin and for members holding deposits to enter into an escrow agreement.

05 sm estatesThe Nye County Assessor's office is currently applying parcel numbers and addresses to the home sites; after a brief waiting period for the Department of Real Estate escrows can be opened and closed within 72 hours. The Spring Mountain Estates Homeowners Association is being established and monthly fees are expected to be 75.00 which includes 24-hour security, landscaping, road maintenance and more. US Bank is offering financing on the raw land for up to 2 years, and can also handle construction loans and permanent financing. Fidelity Title will handle the preliminary title information.

Our new development will transform the look and feel of the resort, and after years of waiting for approval we are moving fast. Members holding deposits on parcels are working with architects and planning the construction of their homes. Lots will begin closing escrow in the first part of April, and we are preparing the subdivision map for the RV parcels on top of the lake. Along with our partner, Platinum Member Jeffrey Cheng, we are working on building plans for our lakeside restaurant, Sunset Grill, an upscale, casual eatery and cocktail lounge with seating for 100 people featuring lake views and an upstairs patio with panoramic vistas of the motor resort.

06 constructionMeetings are being held with investment groups for Spring Mountain Commercial, our 22-acre parcel along Highway 160 in front of the facility. We are looking forward to developing this property with a hotel, restaurants, theaters and more.

Plans for the water and sewer plant are materializing and deposits are in for the large equipment with expectations to complete the project by late summer or early fall. In addition we are meeting with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to acquire more acreage adjacent to the facility for additional track and supporting structures.

For additional information on Spring Mountain Estates and how you can own a parcel at the track, contact Mike Weeks, VP of Sales mike@racespringmountain.com or by cell 949-235-7810.

Prinz Oliver Leopold von Anhalt, 1971-2016

Celebrate Prinz Oliver's Life with us January 15

Prinz Oliver MemorialSadly we must report that Charter Member Prinz Oliver died Christmas Day after a motorcycle accident in Los Angeles. It's rare that anyone has the opportunity to be in the company of a real-life prince; however, Club members were fortunate to know and love Prinz Oliver. Our first glimpse of Oliver occurred 8-years ago as he made his entrance in a chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce complete with an armed bodyguard. With the looks and charisma of a celebrity, Oliver had an infectious smile, was charming, down-to-earth and passionate about life. Oliver fell in love with Spring Mountain and embraced the lifestyle with abandon, joining the Club, buying race cars, hiring coaches, renting garages and purchasing a home nearby.

Oliver lived life to the fullest and raced with all of his might, ending many contests on the podium driving his race car and later, his motorcycle. Everyone who knew Oliver has fond memories of how he touched their lives (along with some colorful stories.) Oliver approached the world with passion and when he was around life was simply more exciting. When Oliver was in the room our spirits were higher and our smiles brighter. We were devastated by Oliver's sudden passing, and extend our sympathy to the family and dear friends he left behind.

A celebration of the life of Prinz Oliver Leopold von Anhalt will be held Friday, January 13 at 3:30 pm in the mountains above the Club. Meet at the clubhouse at 3:30 to caravan to the site with fellow members. View the video tribute to Prince Oliver created by Todd Crutcher, Director of Marketing, Spring Mountain Motor Resort & Country Club.
