Cheers to New Beginnings at the Club

Huge Expansion Project Begins at the Track This Month

01Come celebrate with us at Club Spring Mountain, a resort destination for motorsports aficionados with the longest road course in North America and 946 acres of desert paradise as your playground. This month we embark on a massive track expansion project for the benefit of our members, to provide a new 3-mile road course with more configurations for your driving pleasure. Read about all of the upcoming development planned at the facility below.

02April is another busy month at the track….VARA held its Spring Mountain Classic April 9-11, our own Club Race Weekend is April 15-18, and the Porsche Owners Club will be running with our members and holding their Cup Races April 24-25.

Please join us in welcoming the newest members of our Club… Benn Godenzi and Marly Pathoumphanh, plus Victor DiCosola and his family, Paula and Donavan. Looking forward to seeing our new members at the Club and on the track.

03The horizon at the facility is ever-expanding with tortoise fence grading planned this month in preparation for the track expansion, and more new homes scheduled to be built at Spring Mountain Estates, our luxury residential development at the facility. With a limited number of home sites available for purchase, you now have more reasons to visit our little oasis in the desert. Only a few race weekends remain in our 2020-2021 racing season, so come join the fun and participate in the contests or cheer on your favorite competitors! At Club Spring Mountain, you and your family will make memories to last a lifetime.

Facility Development Update

Tortoise Permit Clears the way for Track Expansion Project

Construction begins this month on the northern track expansion project, as revealed by Russ Meads, head of the Spring 04Mountain development team. Following years of negotiations with US Fish & Wildlife, the Tortoise Permit is now active, allowing construction to commence on the newly acquired 230-acre parcel of the 553.27 acres of property north of the existing facility. Immediate plans include a 3-mile track extension, a new paddock area, new entrances, an interior road connecting the new property with the original facility, and a new kart track. Click to enlarge drawing.

05The first phase of the project, beginning on April 19, involves the installation of special fencing to prevent the desert tortoises, a threatened species, from entering the area. "Slowly and steadily" the property lines will be cleared and the fence lines graded during a 2-week period. Following grading the fencing will begin, with an estimated construction time of 3-4 weeks. Specially trained biologists will walk the entire area and carefully remove any tortoises and/or eggs, relocating them to a safe environment. The clearing process can take up to 3 weeks after which the property will be ready for construction of the new track. Grading of the new track will begin in June, with paving estimated for July, and we are planning to run the first race weekend of the 2021-2022 season on the new track in September.

06Coming soon to the East Paddock...a 14-bay garage building for our members' vehicles, including 6 single- and 7 double-sized spaces, with three of the double car garages extra deep. Each unit will be air conditioned and heated, with construction beginning in May and completion scheduled for late August. Click to enlarge image.

07Russ Meads and his team are working on 3 parcel maps on the newly acquired properties to allow for new projects to commence, with all of the mapping and zoning and entitlements expected to be completed within the next 90-120 days.

The parking areas around the Administration and Clubhouse have been re-striped and re-surfaced with a fresh new coat of asphalt. The remainder of the resurfacing will be completed later this month, after race weekend.

08Spring Mountain Estates, our luxury residential development at the facility with 80 home and mixed-use lots, continues to evolve with more members planning and building their own homes at the track. Within the next month, three new homes will break ground on Lots 22, 29 and 56. Design projects are in progress on 5 additional parcels, which should be ready for construction in less than 2 months.
