Send Your Heart Racing this Season

01 helicopterGreetings from Club Spring Mountain, a desert paradise for adrenaline pursuits, where living the dream includes race cars, planes, helicopters, and desert toys at your disposal in your own track-side garage. At Spring Mountain Estates, more members are embracing the Club lifestyle and building their homes at the track. Platinum Member Jeffrey Cheng recently shot this video of John Morris performing a “fly by” at Jeffrey's home in the Estates, with helicopters and exotic sports cars in the cul-de-sac. This is just an example of "Everyday Life at the Club.” Click the photo to play the video clip.

02 radicalRacer magazine recently featured our own Mitch Bishop and Spring Mountain in an article entitled "Serious Fun." Mitch discovered Spring Mountain in 2007 and became a member of the Club in 2014. The camaraderie between members reminds Mitch of the early days of IMSA. Growing up in a racing family, Mitch's father John and mother Peggy founded the International Motorsports Association (IMSA) in 1969 when Mitch was 13. Mitch will be in the Clubhouse with his new book on Friday, February 8 for a presentation and book signing. Read the complete article.

Spring Mountain Motor Resort and Country Club just announced its successful bid on 553.27 acres of property immediately adjacent to the facility. The parcel, identified as 05 mapphase one of a two-part sale from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM,) was awarded by modified competitive sealed-bid sale. CEO and co-owner John Morris personally attended the sale in Las Vegas, along with GM Dave Petrie and General Contractor Russ Meads. With the addition of the new parcel, the total size of the facility will now include 866 acres.06 sm entrance

Immediate improvements on the property begin with a 3.02-mile track extension. The addition ensures more track configurations and multiple long track variations can be run simultaneously, with the longest course estimated to be 9 miles in length. Eventually, phase two will include another track extension of 7 miles, making Spring Mountain the longest road course in the world. Until then, phase one expansion will also include new buildings and a paddock area to be used for a myriad of track operations. Also, an interior road located near the West Track will be paved to connect to the new paddock and buildings. The paving of adjacent Wheeler Road will be completed for public access to the new development.

“We’re thrilled to continue this development to further our vision of Spring Mountain as a world-class motorsports facility,” remarked John Morris. “The acquisition of the latest parcel of land from the BLM will allow us to immediately begin our track expansion for Club members, driving school students and guests. Deepest thanks to the staff at the BLM who worked tirelessly on behalf of this acquisition, which is a result of years of planning and the cooperation of multiple governmental entities.”

Race Program Changes at Club Spring Mountain

Expanded Repertoire and New Wheel-to-Wheel Series

07 raceThis year brings a transformation to the Club Racing program with the arrival of our new Race Director, Richie Hearn. Offering fresh new experiences each month, including time attacks and wheel-to-wheel races, we have listened to our members’ ideas and incorporated them into our offerings. Club Spring Mountain is hosting its first multi-class wheel-to-wheel race series beginning February 8.

The Sports Car series, previously reserved exclusively for Miata and MX5 vehicles, has now been modified to include more varieties of sports cars. In 2019 we will host 4 race weekends with Time Attack racing (race prepped car not required.) Another 4 months during the year Wheel-to-Wheel racing will be featured where a race prepped car is mandatory. Two race weekends will be designated as Miata/MX5 weekends only, and at those races. points will not be awarded toward the Time Attack and Wheel-to-Wheel Championships.

08 sportscar internationalEach race weekend is an opportunity for our sports cars to gain more track time on longer tracks. During the month of March, three weekends will feature longer courses. Refer to the Event Calendar for specific dates. Although there will no longer be a Miata/MX5 series – those cars fall into one of the Sports Car categories and can still be competitive. Classes are power-to-weight based with modifiers for the class of tire used.

We are excited for the second annual Sports Car Invitational at Spring Mountain! The Invitational, held on the Mansell (C) 3.4-mile course, is open to members and to non-members racing sports cars only. Please invite your friends to join us March 29-31 for this exclusive event at North America’s premier road course and motorsports facility. For 3 days, drivers will experience over 7 hours of open lapping sessions, competitive time trials and bracket road racing! Open wheel and sport racer/prototype cars will not be authorized. For more information and to sign up for the Invitational, visit our event page.
