Facility Development Update

Track Expansion Project and SM Estates News

05 mapThe Northern Track Expansion Project, located on the newly acquired 230-acre parcel of the 553.27 acres of property north of the existing facility is officially under way. Immediate plans include a 3.2-mile track extension, a new paddock area, new entrances, an interior road connecting the new property with the original facility, and a kart track. Installation of protective fencing to prevent the desert tortoise from entering the area has just been finalized. Russ Meads, Director of the Spring Mountain Development team, reports that seven biologists are now walking the entire property to carefully remove any tortoises and eggs, relocating them to a safe environment. Click to enlarge drawing.

The final design for the 3.2-mile track expansion is complete, including specific radius considerations and meticulously planned corners and straights. The drawing also indicates crossover transitions into the existing course. After the new track is built, the length of the longest configuration at Spring Mountain will be 9.13 miles (watch out Nurburgring!) Tortoise clearing will be completed in 2 weeks, at which time the center line of the track will be staked while making final adjustments for grade and embracing the natural topography of the desert landscape. After clearing is complete, the property will be ready for construction of the new road course.

06 racecarsFinal asphalt mix designs have been submitted for the surface of the new track and will undergo extreme testing over the next several weeks to determine densities, rutting, and compactions. Highly polymerized oils to withstand heat, yet maintain grip, will be used for the first time at Spring Mountain, adding to the rich history of the facility's extremely dense aggregates while embracing the latest engineering to provide the ultimate driving experience for our valued members.

Gridliance, an independent utility company with a mission to improve the reliability and resilience of the grid, has started construction on a much-needed substation expansion. Located on the southern-most portion of the newly acquired BLM land, the Gridliance substation will continue a great partnership to supply power to the facility.

07 sm estates homeSpring Mountain Estates, our luxury residential development at the facility with 80 home and mixed-use lots, continues to evolve with more members planning and building their own homes at the track. Last month one of our new members purchased a parcel in the development. Three new homes will break ground on Lots 22, 29 and 56, and design projects are in progress on 5 additional parcels, which should be ready for construction soon.

To own your own parcel in Spring Mountain Estates, contact Mike Weeks, VP Sales, via email mike@racespringmountain.com or by phone at 949-235-7810.

08 garagesComing soon to the East Paddock...a 14-bay garage building for our members' vehicles, including 6 single- and 7 double-sized spaces, with three of the double car garages extra deep. Each unit will be air conditioned and heated, with construction beginning this month and completion scheduled for late August. Click to enlarge image.
