Member News

Passings, Weddings and Italian Car Testing

Sad news this month about the loss of two special friends of the Club...Carol Carlson and Gary Goulet. They will be missed by members and staff at Club Spring Mountain.

08 carlson familyCarol Carlson, mother of Platinum Member Terry Carlson, passed away peacefully on September 11 in Pahrump, Nevada. Born in 1932, Carol was a huge supporter of her son Terry, his beautiful wife Monica, and the Club Spring Mountain experience in general. She loved being at the track and attended nearly every race, spending time with members and staff dispensing her sassy sense of humor. Nearly everyone had a funny story about Carol, and she was known for "eating her weight in cookies" when she visited the clubhouse.

You are invited to join Terry and Monica in the Radical Showroom Friday night, October 13 at 5:30 pm for a champagne toast to honor Carol's memory.

09 gary goulet fred chinClub Member Garrett W. Goulet passed at home July 30 from Cancer. Gary was born in Salem, Oregon in 1941, and grew up on a hop farm. He earned a BS in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University. While in Seattle, he met and married Dee Ann Day, his wife of forty-eight years. Gary and Dee Ann lived in Boise for over 40 years. Gary loved Porsches and bought his first one at age forty.

Member Fred Chin has known Gary for 10 years and loved his heart of gold and passion for Porsches. Fred shares his memories of Gary. "I remember chasing him around the course in his then black 997 GT3, my skills insufficient to negotiate a clean pass around him. Also I remember our discussions in the paddock where he relished how much he enjoyed driving. It was at that time I knew Gary was truly one of a kind."

"His enjoyment of driving and the ability to share those moments over cocktails will be my eternal memory of him and his love of Porsche. Gary, you will be in my fondest memories whenever I step into my Porsche. I hope to be driving with as much enjoyment, zest and enthusiasm as you showed me and as I complete each lap of life."
