Miata Racers Remember 9/11 at Fall Contest

Rounds 11 and 12 of the Club Spring Mountain Miata Race Series (CSMMRS) took place over the September 10th and 11th weekend. The group competed on the 2.2 mile layout with some of the most intense racing the series has ever seen.

Saturday's podium was covered by just 6 seconds with the first and second place competitors separated by a mere .3 of a second. The top step on the podium was captured by the current series point leader Mike Von Quilich. John Falb claimed second place, and Paul Lynch rounded out the fast 3.

Sunday's race was no less exciting and while timing issues prevented an accurate measurement of the differences between competitors crossing the finish line, less than 3 seconds covered the fieldís fast laps. Mike Von Quilich found himself again standing on top of podium when all was said and done. John Falb took his second 2nd place of the weekend along with setting the raceís fastest lap. Lee Mixon captured his first podium finish of the series.

The series next event weekend is October 8-9, 2011. If you have questions or are interested in the series contact club member Tony Zito at (702)521-9966 or Blue996tt@gmail.com.
