Spring Mountain News – June 2023

Celebrating 19 Years of Accomplishments

Join us for the last Race Weekend of the Season

01-sm-mountainThe years have flown by since Spring Mountain partners purchased 193-acres of desert land in June 2004 with a 2.2-mile road course, a driving school with a fleet of 8 Corvettes, two tent structures and portable restrooms. Fast forward to 19 years later where a visionary’s dreams led us to the 933-acre destination now known as Spring Mountain Motor Resort & Country Club. Reality has surpassed expectations, and we are still striving to create a motorsports experience second-to-none in the world.

02-peopleDuring this journey we have been fortunate to work with the most incredible staff, some of whom have been with us since the beginning and share our passion for providing exceptional products and services to valued Club members, their families, and friends. The team works hard all year to provide smooth-running, fun, and successful events for our members and we cannot thank them enough for their tireless efforts. Our success is truly due to their loyalty and commitment to the Spring Mountain vision.

03-peopleOur 2022-2023 race season ends this weekend, and racers will have a final opportunity to earn points this Friday, June 16. That evening we’ll host a dinner and awards ceremony in the Clubhouse. After the trophies are awarded, we invite all of you to join us for a party in the pool area behind the Clubhouse, with complimentary cocktails and a DJ spinning some grooves. Don’t miss this fun event to celebrate an incredible race season!

Our accomplishments would not have been possible without the support of our enthusiastic Club members who encouraged our ideas and were with us every step of the way. Please join us in celebrating 19 remarkable years of growth, innovation, and achievements at Spring Mountain.

Facility Development Update

4-Story Tower Under Way, Redevelopment of the Lake, and Karting News

04-towerProgress is continuing with development at the facility this spring. Our 4-story luxury control tower features a section for race spotters and soars 55 feet above the track, providing perfect visibility of our newest premier race circuit, Charleston Peak. We look forward to hosting Club events with plenty of space for spectators to view the entire Charleston Peak area.

Construction is under way on this much-anticipated project. The newly-updated design consists of a lower lounge area on the first floor, with the second and third floors designated for track viewing and the fourth floor utilized for race control. (Click to enlarge the drawing.)

05-aerialLake Spring Mountain continues its major redevelopment with 37 RV spaces, a large, resort-style pool, a Pavilion with BBQ stations, and an expansion of the existing Aquatic center. Grading for the RV project, pictured here, is in progress, with approximately 6 weeks of grading expected for the RV pads and filling the lake for the resort-style pool. 20 Casita-style dwellings are expected to be built on the RV pads. The new, resort-style pool will be located between the old island and the Tiki Bar/Aquatic center, and the Aquatic center will be expanded and transformed into a luxury lounge. In addition, a new multi-purpose building of approximately 4,000 square feet, with a complete kitchen, will be constructed at the location of the sand volleyball courts. Replacing the island will be a large palapa with BBQ and fire pits. Four lighted Pickleball courts will be added near the Palapa in front of the multi-purpose building. Additional parking will be built, along with 9 acres of lush landscaping around the palapa. We are expecting the RV park to be completed by the end of summer, with the multi-purpose building to follow. The Pool and Aquatic Center are scheduled to be completed this fall. 06-trackmapSpring Mountain Karting announces final designs and layout are underway for an initial .80-mile pro track, (pictured here) to be followed by another .50-mile track in the second phase for rental karts and kids. Running the full line of CRG karts on its 43-acre facility, Spring Mountain Karting will be offering a limited number of founder memberships, plus regular memberships to Club members, and is expected to be open 5 days per week, Wednesday through Sunday. The perimeter fence line has been completed along with the biologist study for the tortoise permit, with no turtles located. A migratory bird study was also performed to ensure there were no habitat interruptions. Grading and paving is expected to be completed this summer, with the operation of the kart track anticipated for the Fall of 2023.

A temporary kart track on the lower half of Charleston Peak paddock is available for this month's race weekend, where you can test drive our new CRG Centurion rental karts flown out from Italy. No personal karts will be permitted on the temporary track.

07-simulatorSpring Mountain Karting engaged the services of Dave Hodsoll, owner of SIM Circuit, to create a simulator program to preview the exhilarating world of kart racing on Spring Mountain Karting’s new pro-track. Now you can drive our .80-mile pro-track before it’s built! Tom Lovelady has been working directly with SIM Circuit and making the adjustments to the design as he’s been driving the course using several different types of karts on the simulator. We invite you to experience the latest version of the pro-track during the final Club Race weekend of the year, June 15-18. The simulator, manufactured by SIM Coaches, will be in the old administration classroom, and we will have specific hours during race weekend for members to come and try it out.

08-model homeSpring Mountain Estates, our luxury residential development at the facility with 80 home and mixed-use lots, has several projects in the planning stages, according to Russ Meads of Double M Construction. Pictured here is a rendering of the beautiful new home planned for Jeffrey and Jessica Cheng, expected to break ground in the next few weeks.

Other projects at the facility include a renovation of the Fitness Center behind the Clubhouse, with the addition of the latest in high-tech weight-room equipment. This project is expected to be completed in the next few months.

For the Record...Correction

09-miataIn the September 2021 newsletter, we reported that Club members Benn and Marly Godenzi acquired 20 parcels in Spring Mountain Estates for developing trackside homes. The correct name of the purchaser was Stained Glass Lantern, LLC. Club Spring Mountain regrets the error.
