Facility Development Update

Track Expansion Project and SM Estates News

06 trackThe Northern Track Expansion Project, located on a 230-acre parcel of property north of the facility, is still on schedule. Currently in progress is a 3.24-mile track extension, a new paddock area, new entrances, and an interior road connecting the new property with the original facility. Paving is currently underway. AMS has been working with Wulfenstein construction on-site overseeing all the paving on the new Charleston Peak course and the repairs to the north/south course. AMS has constructed some of the finest race tracks in the US and is considered the best in the industry. Members ran the course last weekend and we received overwhelming responses on how great it was to drive. Brian Heller reports that "turn 2 feels like a totally different turn," and Karen Wonnenberg said that "I was able to carry more speed and it seemed smoother." We invite you to come out and drive our newly refreshed track to experience the difference for yourself and as always, your feedback is important to us.

07 podiumAll reports from our members on the new track layout have been enthusiastic, and we are thrilled at the results under the leadership of Simon Payne of Badger Race Tech, who served as Chief Designer, and world-class race track designer and safety coordinator Martyn Thake, who analyzed the layout of our new course to seek certification for FIA Level 3 status. We consider ourselves fortunate to be working with some of the finest consultants in the racing business.

08 garagesCurrently under construction…a 14-bay garage building for our members' vehicles, including 6 single- and 7 double-sized spaces, with three of the double car garages extra deep. Each unit will be air conditioned and heated.

09 constructionSpring Mountain Estates, our luxury residential development at the facility with 80 home and mixed-use lots, is changing every day as permits have been acquired for two more housing starts with groundbreaking expected in the near future. Seven parcels are in the design stage. Club members Benn and Marly Godenzi recently acquired 20 parcels in the Estates for developing trackside homes, and John & Katy Morris’ home is in the process of roof installation.
